LABOUR OF LOVE: A STORY

 (ft. Baby Waris)

A month of baby Waris and a month of new founded joy, gratitude and blessings. Prior to
experiencing active labour, I often wondered whether I would cry when our baby would be
placed in my arms. I usually led myself to believe that I wouldn't - that, instead, I would be
too filled with contentment to even realize to cry. But, I forgot about the tears of joy. The
moment baby Waris's warm skin made contact with my bare skin, tears automatically started

PREGNANCY GLOW

Dress: Zara (similar here)
Bag: Louis Vuitton
Earrings: Linjer Hoops

Nowadays, getting ready means something different for me - I'm more focused on
putting my belly on full display and dressing it up with outfits with fun elements.
Take the bow detail on this dress, for example. I also love that it sits a few inches

BABYMOON

(ft. Seaside Hotel, North Vancouver, BC)

Bag: Louis Vuitton

What an absolutely relaxing and much-needed babymoon it was! A 2-nights and 3-days
stay over the August long weekend was exactly what Manjot and I needed before the
inevitable sleepless nights and late-night feedings. Manjot and I thoroughly enjoyed the
one-on-one time before we added another member to our lovely family. Hashtag blessed!

A DREAMY BABY SHOWER

This past weekend, my family hosted the most beautiful baby shower honouring baby
Grewal and baby mama! What a dreamy event it was - all my close family, friends and
relatives, the venue, the decor, the cake, the party favours and food were everything I
could have ever wanted at my baby shower. We were fortunate that the provincial
covid-19 health and safety guidelines had eased allowing us to invite a lot more family
and friends than were previously permitted. We decided to keep the event intimate to
create meaningful interactions amongst our guests and to keep them engaged and
occupied. That's how every event should be - wouldn't you agree? All in all, the baby
shower was a hit for me, Manjot and our family and friends. Forever thankful for them!

PHOTO DIARY - MATERNITY EDITION

Photos: JaNa Photography

Though I may have had a moment of shock in witnessing the changes that my body is
undergoing, I have learned to love it all - the stretched-out belly, the excess weight, the
expanding hips, etc. Sounds like a pretense, right? I promise it is not once you turn your
mind to the positive work that a body does of nurturing a pure little soul inside a belly.

Manjot and I wanted to capture my transforming body and what better way to do it than
having an award-winning and profesional photography studio take on that task. This is
precisely why we decided to go with the incredible Nasim from Jana Photography

From our initial consultation to our actual photoshoot session in the studio, Nasim &

MATERNITY FASHION

Dress: Zara (similar in round neck)
Booties: Kurt Geiger (similar in leopard)
Bag: Prada

I have officially stepped into the third trimester of this incredible and beautiful journey!
It's intriguing to wonder about how life is being developed and sustained inside a human
body; really makes me turn my mind to a higher creative power. Fascinating, isn't it?!
Let's put a hold on this thought for now because this post is all about maternity fashion!

Even before conceiving, I would think of a million reasons to be excited about the state of
being pregnant. One of those reasons was to explore maternity fashion. I mean, can you
imagine having an excuse to be constantly in comfortable yet stylish clothing? Well, even

OH BABY!

Dress: H&M

I am now nearing the end of the second trimester and will be entering into the third trimester
commencing next week. Keeping a track of the beginning and end of each week during the
first few weeks of my pregnancy was appealing. But, I find that as time progresses, keeping
a record of the weeks becomes a big blur. Nonetheless, I was sure to mark my calendar with
important dates such as the end and beginning of a new trimester. This helps Manjot and I stay
in the know about what to expect with each trimester and the symptoms that accompany it.

THE NEWS

Shoes: Schutz

Undeniably, Manjot and I felt there has been no other bigger news in our lives, to date,
than announcing our pregnancy to family & friends. Truly a once in a lifetime experience.
After our family & friends, I am most excited to share the big news with my Modish Fam.
So here it goes - we are thrilled to announce the arrival of a little someone - Baby Grewal!

Manjot has been wishing for a baby ever since we got married. I certainly did as well but
I wasn't too rushed - not as much as Manjot at least. Of course, I wanted to establish myself
as a lawyer before I entered motherhood. We had so much to accomplish. Then, COVID-19
happened and we were so damn ready! It gives me so much joy to experience Manjot's
happiness with every passing day. Frankly, nothing else compares to his excitement.

THE STORY

I surprised Manjot with the pregnancy news at the end of December last year & I will
forever cherish this memory. It was an early morning when I took an at-home pregnancy
test. Manjot was still in bed. A part of me wanted him to be with me as I didn't quite know

CONT'D - WORKING IT (FROM HOME)

You may have read about my early experience of remote working posted back in September
2020. If you haven't, I invite you to read it here. I am enjoying all the advantages that come
with working from home and trying to make the most of the disadvantages. It is in fact true
that practice makes better. With practice, I have been able to maintain a well-suited and
structured work regime while still staying within the work-specific hours. My absolute fav
is the flexibility in scheduling my own hours on days that are not work-heavy. I can make
a quick stop for a medical checkup or end up at the grocery store to pick up ingredients
for a homemade lunch I have been craving. I have the option of putting in extra time
after hours to make up for the missed time. Overall, in my opinion, the benefits outweigh
the negatives of remote working. I am happy to know that since our firm had adopted and
accomodated remote working pre-COVID days, I will have this option for the days I need it.
