THE MAGNIFICENT APURVA

Dress: Warehouse London (similar here)
Heels: Sam Edelman
Sunnies: Le Specs

After 7 luxurious days in Thailand, spent experiencing the island life at The Naka
Island and the city life at Amari Phuket, we were thrilled and ready to take on Bali.
Beautiful Bali has so much love and culture to offer. After 3 spectacular days in
Nusa Dua, spent at the beautiful Sadara Resort, and another 3 days in Sanur, spent
hibernating at Maya Sanur, we were all set for our last destination: The Apurva
Kempinski. We were especially excited about booking this hotel as it's newly opened
and appeared luxuriously magnificent from the pictures and reviews we had seen.

Our first impression after we set our foot into the Apurva Kempinski was its grandeur,
exquisiteness, and its architecture combining the rich Indonesian culture with modern

design. A feature that stood out to us was the level of security at the hotel: the guards
checked their list for each incoming vehicle and noted down the plate numbers. Once we
unloaded from the car and proceeded to the entrance, we noticed another screening
station where the guards promptly pushed through our luggage and personal bags.

Cliff Private Pool Ocean Junior Suite

Once we were at the lobby, we were received by a beautiful girl and guided to the
Cliff Lounge, which sits at a few floors above the main lobby. It is impossible for me
to talk about the Apurva main lobby but not attest to its magnificence. It is this
gorgeous and a gigantic open-air space inviting its guests to take in the unobstructed
views of the Indian Ocean while admiring the architectural features conjoining the
Indonesian elegance into the modern design. Just beautiful!

Once we were at the Cliff Lounge, we were given refreshing welcome drinks and were
introduced to the manager of the lounge who assured us a 5-star service and offered his
services for whatever we may need during our stay. Our check-in was completed while
we were engaged in a conversation with the manager which we thought was the most
fuss-free check-in ever. It was finally time to see the luxury suite where we would be
spending our next 3 nights. And, let me tell you, it was all that we had imagined: the
crystal clear floor-to-ceiling-windows, the luxurious furnishings, the upscale bath
amenities, the private jetted pool located at a few steps from our bed, and a bathroom
I wish I could bring home. Don't believe me? Let me show you:

Bathroom

A bathroom so grand and luxurious like this one deserves its own writeup. Everything
from the dual matte black vanity, the opulent brass knobs, the sleek freestanding tub,
to the designer light fixtures boasted of a relaxing space. The beautiful floor to ceiling
glass doors allowed us to take in the stunning views of our pool and the ocean. So serene:

Food

The perks of the Club Lounge was the access to their private pool, an exclusive lounge
with many sitting areas, complementary snacks and cocktail hour from 5-7 each evening
and many servers who were ready to assist us with anything we needed or wanted. While
Manjot took full advantage of the cocktail hour, I was a happy child every time he
handed me a Passionfruit Mocktail. It was sooooooo good.

In terms of food, we met with a beautiful coincidence in that Apurva had just hired this
spectacular chef, Mr. Bopanna, to entertain their guests with Indian cuisine. It so
happened that during our conversation with the Club manager during check-in, he asked
us for our preference of food. Upon expressing an interest in any type of vegetarian food
for dinner, he immediately introduced us to Mr. Bopanna. From that moment we knew,
the remainder of our trip was going to be finger-licking delicious. In fact, we were
beyond ecstatic to indulge in every type of vegetarian food that was presented to us at
the beautiful Pala Restaurant & Rooftop Bar. With crystal clear floor-to-ceiling windows
overlooking the never-ending infinity pool and landscape oh-so-gorgeous, we were in
a treat every single morning and evening. A glimpse into our food journey is a must:

In addition to all these yummy eats, we also had the pleasure of checking out Apurva's
uber cool Japanese pop-up restaurant, Izakaya by Oku. It was our first time trying
out Japanese cuisine, mainly because of the lack of vegetarian options. However, the
care that the chefs and servers put into ensuring that each of the 7-course meal was
egg-free as well as vegetarian was highly impressive. Check out the yumminess below:

The Apurva Spa

It was a bit of a bummer that we could not fully experience Apurva's Luxury Spa as it was
still being constructed. However, we were not left disappointed. The spa was temporarily
hosted in the North Wing of the building enclosing a few cliff suites with pool, obviously
not yet open for guests to stay as the rooms were transformed into spa treatment rooms.

The treatment we signed up for was a 90-minute Java Dwipa couple's massage. It began
with a 10-minute foot massage in an antique bowl decorated with rose petals and essential
oils. What began next was one of the most invigorating 80-minute massage Manjot and I had
experienced. It combined Javanese healing therapy with long and rhythmic palm and thumb
strokes that we wished didn't end for at least a few hours. Our minds were asleep yet privy
to the ultimate relaxation our body was experiencing. Both Manjot and I left the massage
room feeling exhilarated and ready to take on rest of the day. A huge shoutout to our
masseurs, Rintisari and Padma, for leaving us feeling invigorated with their magical hands.

A Happy Place

Overall, Apurva really proved itself to be a 5-star luxury! Everything from the architecture
to food to service screams a top-class experience and both Manjot and I feel very happy
and fortunate to experience everything that this gorgeous beachfront resort had to offer.
